About the Artist

Lauren Browning is an artist based out of beautiful Colorado Springs, CO. She has always loved art and finds she could never part from her craft, as it is now and always will be a major part of herself. With her paints and brushes, she captures the graceful beauty and natural sense of femininity of women of all shapes and sizes. She theorizes that within each woman, there lies multitudes, if only you take the time to look. In both admiring and highlighting every tiny, perfectly imperfect detail of her subjects she strives to demonstrate this concept in her paintings. And in her works you can sense this of fleeting yet sustained love between her and her subjects.

“All great artists draw from the same resource: the human heart, which tells us that we are all more alike than we are unalike.”

~ Maya Angelou

Lauren’s Favorite Medium

Lauren’s favorite medium is oil paint. She loves the freedom that oil paint offers, allowing her to endlessly work the paint to capture every last detail of her subject.

But in the end she says it’s the subject dictates the medium. If a subject calls for bold strokes of color, leaning more toward the abstract, this calls for acrylics. If the subject calls for soft whispers of pigment, this calls for watercolor.

She loves the freedom to explore and enjoy all mediums and thinks every artist should keep in mind the one cardinal rule of art: never stop playing.

“Artists are just children who refuse to put down their crayons.”

~ Al Hirschfeld

Lauren’s Hobbies

When Lauren’s not painting, she enjoys traveling with her husband, Joseph, and her standard poodle, Roux (Rudy). The trio have made it a point to explore the beautiful mountains of Colorado as much as they can. Lauren is always eager to travel and working towards planning her next trip.

She also has a passion for plants, preferring to always be surrounded by a jungle of greenery whenever possible.
